Far Eastern Floating University

In 2012 Sovcomflot Group supported the Far Eastern Floating University (an initiative of the Russian Geographical Society), allowing a unique training ship Professor Khlustin (registered to the port of Vladivostok, and until recently based at the Admiral G.I Nevelskoy Maritime State University) to remain active.

Professor Khlustin is designed to allow up to 100 cadets to undertake practical training at one time, preparing them to work in challenging navigating conditions in the Far Eastern and Arctic Seas, and also allowing them to conduct research into the continental shelf of these regions.

In 2012-2013 the ship underwent a thorough repair and re-equipment, ensuring that it will remain in dependable service for the foreseeable future. In 2014 Sovcomflot, Transas and the Russian Ministry of Transport fitted out Professor Khlustin with special equipment in order for its crew to analyse the ecology of the north-western part of the Pacific Ocean.
